La Roche Posay ‘Toleriane’ range

The first purchase for my journey of itchy, dry skin! I purchased the La Roche Posay skincare products after being recommended to me by a Boots sales assistant in Dundrum Shopping Centre. She suggested the ‘Toleriane Ultra’ range which was sparse in Boots. I popped upstairs to the McCabes Pharmacy where they have specialists working specifically for this brand. With the help of the lovely lady I purchased the cleanser (€14.25), Ultra Fluid moisturiser (€18.50) and Eye Contour (€19). Don’t forget 3 customers get 20% discount online in McCabes Pharmacy with the 3plus app. I started using these products a week before my treatment started and I LOVE them. My skin feels so soft, even better than before. I cleanse my face with the cleanser, dabbing off with a luke warm face cloth. Following that I use the Ultra fluid moisturiser and the eye cream. It is extremely soothing and my skin feels instantly hydrated and lasts through the day.

The brand is french based and boasts of formulation standards such as paraben free, fragrance free, alcohol free etc. Basically everything we should avoid! According to their website La Roche-Posay follows strict standards including ‘100% hypoallergenic skincare, non-comedogenic, high concentration of selected ingredients with Thermal Spring Water, minimal ingredients and fragrance and tested on sensitive skin’.

A little update: Three weeks on after my first round of chemo my skin is feeling better than ever. I think it is working really well. Although speaking to another Boots sales assistant she says that LRP still contains chemicals and that I could find skin care products that are gentler. Doing a little more research, the EWG give a low risk rating for the Toleriane range so I am happy to use them. Other ranges in this brand seem to have higher risk ratings so take a look before buying any products.

  1. Sally I have just read through your amazing new website. I suppose I was initially shocked to read of your diagnosis of ovarian cancer at such a young age. I am sure that you have had to really deal with a huge shock yourself with this . But looking at the website all I can say is that the cancer has met up with one good woman. You have a super attitude , a fabulous positive outlook and lots of all of the right ingredients to tackle this and come out the other side. You will also enlightened others on your journey. I will hopefully get to read more of your updates and follow your progress.
I have huge admiration for you.
So keep up the great work and keep in touch. All the very very best with that treatment.

    Take care
    Monica Mc Gettrick.
